1926 Bugatti Type 37 Grand Prix

Broadarrow Auctions  offered this 1926 Bugatti Type 37, one of the most original examples, matching-numbers, among the mere 270 ever built.

Formerly owned and campaigned by Jack Lemon Burton, founding member and President of the Bugatti Owners' Club.

Designed for the Voiturette class - simplified, think smaller, lighter grand prix cars running under 1500cc mostly by privateer's.

4 cylinder, again, simplified, half the Type 35's straight 8 unit, SOHC, 3 valve heads, unsupercharged making 60hp, another 20 or so hp when supercharged. 

This particular type 37 has an extensive racing history during the 30's.

Later it secured two consecutive victories at the Bugatti Race at Silverstone in 1950 and 1951 with John Henry Pratt.
