Rallye Sanremo winning Audi Quattro S1 E2 (Replica)
The unmistakable profile of the Audi Quattro S1 in E2 guises. The most exciting of the Group B rally cars, although not the most successful.
The S1 E2 won its only World Championships event, the 1985 Rallye Sanremo driven by Walter Rohrl with Christian Geistdorfer on the pacenotes.
This was the first time Audi had variable differentials on the S1 contributing towards Rohrl beating the newly crowned World Champion Timo Salonen in a Peugeot 205 T16 E2 by over six minutes.

Eifel-Rally Festival notes "Since the real winning car of the 1985 Rally Sanremo has disappeared without a trace to this day, Gary Midwinter made the ambitious plan at the beginning of this century to build an identical replica of one. He collected original parts everywhere and two years later the project was finished. It took another three years and many setbacks before the Quattro ran reasonably reliably. Tragically, Gary was not to enjoy it much because he died shortly afterwards. Gary's family then passed the Sport Quattro E2 on to his old childhood friend Dave Kedward, who then passed it on to Audi specialist Adam Marsden, who brought it to the Eifel from England"
