Belga Team Audi S1 E2 in detail

Following my earlier post, which was just a collage of the replica Audi S1 E2 Belga Team Quatro, a few more details shot by the excellent Simbau Photographie and sold via Race Cars Direct  .

Key specifications:

- AAN 2.2 20v engine 450hp (capable of +750hp)

- engine fully forged

- Maxxecu engine management

- Precision Turbo PT6266

- short ratio Dogbox gearbox 6speed 01E

- KW V3 suspensions

- 330mm brakes (6 piston in front and 4p on the rear)

- homologated seats, extinguisher, ...

- full carbon kevlar bodykit

With only 20 S1 E2's built, and only 4 in private hands, a genuine car will cost millions, in any currency. Sotheby's sold this Mikkola driven, previous owned by Armin Schwatz factory car for £1.8m.

CTCRC Mallory Park - revisit part 2

Porsche 924 Carrera GTS

Only 59 of the Porsche 924 Carrera GTS were produced in 1981. Compared to the normal 924 Carrera GT, the GTS was 50 kilograms lighter (empty weight: 1.121 kg) and received a power increase from 35 hp to a total of 245 hp. The weight-saving measures included abandoning insulation materials, firmly installed headlights under transparent plastic covers instead of flapping headlights, body parts made of thinner metal, lighter shell seats and abandoning various comfort options in the interior. As a motorsport homologation vehicle, the GTS was mainly used to allow the 924 Carrera GTR for racing use.

In the end, two customers opted to have their 924 Carrera GTS equipped with the complete comfort interior of the normal 924 - including an electric window lift and a radio. In comparison to this, there were 15 customers who instead chose the even more radical Club Sport variant. This one came with a power upgrade to 270hp, motorsport vehicle, aluminum rollover cage, six-point belts, electric deadman switch and a firmly installed fire extinguisher.

Classic Car Racing with the CTCRC - Revisit Part 1

CTCRC, an eclectic mix of Club racing classic cars.

I enjoy Mallory Park, its probably my favourite UK circuit. It's handy at just over an hour drive away for me, and, as a spectator, especially one that likes to point his trusty Nikon towards cars and competitors, you are not separated from the action by wire fencing and 200m of run off.

There are no exclusive garages hiding the headline racers, and wondering around the paddock, where drivers are always happy to talk shop, you are still never more than a few meters from a decent view point from the infield.

Shot by me on 18th May 2024, this is the first little set of some of my favourites.

Porsche 911 - but not as Porsche imagined.

Want a restored, upgraded, reimagined, reinterpreted Porsche 911 or 912? The choice is seemingly endless, from bolt on wide body kits, cut and glued at your car park of choice, to full carbon bodies, hi revving motorsport derived engines and styling anything but classic - usually exacuted very well.

How deep are your pockets? How long do you want to wait for your commission slot? Or are you just happy to may million(s) of dollars over the original cost.

Me? My funds don't quite stretch to add my name to a list, but, if they did, KAMM, ROCS or Kalmar, but then there's the gorgeous 959, and Tuthill's engine ........... wealth has its on set of problems.

By no means even an extensive selection, but....click on the links
