Simple tasks - Porsche 356 and Marchal Lamps

Such a simple, atmospheric post from bUGbUs on their Facebook page, if you can't relate to it, you're in the wrong place and we can't be friends.

"After years of running these old Marchal Lamps they finally work thanks to @flatsixjackI picked up these crusty old Marchal 640s at the Midland Aircooled Swapmeet (@midlands_aircooled_swap_meet ) a few years back. 

Untested. They were completely seized shut, with snapped fastenings, were rusted inside and out. Once we cracked them open it was clear this was no simple bulb swap (the original blown bulb inside dated back to 1958). After a lot of repairing, cleaning, soldering and testing, he finally got a spark strong enough to light the lamps.

Jack went well beyond what was needed too. He was able to find a beautiful old original boxed Lucas switch and mount. He then set about wiring everything up neatly under the watchful eyes of the cats. Using proper old-school techniques to suit the old bruiser.

Now, with a very satisfying flick of a switch, those crusty old 640s come to life with a warm glow, just like they would have way back when.
