In the early 1980s, original Bugatti components from various sources were reunited with a new chassis number 492 to rebuild a complete car. This recreation borrowed the identity of the original #4858, allowing the vehicle to carry a French road-legal title and the registration corresponding to EB1928.
The car maintains FIA HTP (Historic Technical Passport) documentation valid until 2029, confirming its eligibility for historic racing events.
