Revisiting Prescott - 1922 Bugatti Type 13 Brescia

  Ever present at the home of the Bugatti Owners Club, I dont recall a meeting at Prescott where this 1922 Bugatti Type 13 Brescia isn't being run up the hill.  The photos suffer due to blogger compression.

Lancia Fulvia Sport 1600 Zagato

  Silodrome  published these photos with an article titled "The Affordable Zagato", relatively true compared to the Aston Martin DB4 GT Zagato, which came from the pen of the same designer Ercole Spada. Good eye sir. Powered by a very narrow angled V4 with a single cylinder head, a design later popularised by VW and its VR6 engine. Twin cams, one doing the task of lifting the intake valves the other the exhaust valves.  The engine, set at a 45 degree angle to lower the centre of gravity and enable a lower profile front end, was fed by a pair of Solex carburetors. The 1584cc lump sent its 134hp through a 4 speed box, later replaced with a 5 speed, to the front wheels. This particular car, imported as a previously used car into the Netherlands in 1986, has since been tweeked including twin Dellorto DHLA 40 carburetors, lightened flywheel and an Gp4 exhaust manifold. Motorsport Liveries - Oil Companies

Keep it simple stupid. The Castrol GTX branding on this Lotus 70 is simply perfect. In fact, it prompted this post. For years, and for obvious reasons, oil company marketing directors have been funneling huge sums of money into motorsport, at every possible level, Formula 1 to Schoolboy Motocross. But, who does it best?  Gulf Oil , synonymous with two colours, and of course the Le Mans 24hr, with the Ford GT40, Porsche 917 and the Mirage of John Wyer's JW Automotive Team adorned with the the Blue and Orange. Porsche's 908/3, part lightweight endurance racer part Hillclimb special, suiting the tight twists and turns of the likes of the Nürburg­ring and Targa Florio. Seen in various Gulf liveries, the standout with the single left sided orange arrow. However the Trackhouse Aprilia seen above, caught out everyone in the MotoGP paddock with its Gulf sponsorship and what a livery! Rarely seen on two wheels, still simple, clean, instantly recognisable. STP and #43, the Petty dynasty....
